The Dispomix Technology is used for the homogenization of a chemical sample. Sample homogenization is a common preparation step in many biochemical laboratories prior to the analysis of e.g. nucleic acids, proteins, cells, metabolism, pathogens. Over the years there were many developments on different homogenizers, most of them based on mixers, bead mills, or ultra sound. Some of the major issues and problems to be solved in this homogenization process steps are aerosols, cross-contamination, and also long process times and intensive cleaning steps. The Dispomix technology copes with some of these problems. It is characterized by a special cap design in a closed plastic tube consisting of a combination of knives and teeth with a rotary blade to homogenize the sample. All liquids are transferred through a septum. Sterile and smooth processing also allows for the isolation of living bacteria or other cells.
